অনেকের ধারনা কবুতর পালন  জটিল বিষয় । কবুতর কিভাবে লালন পালন করবে তা নিয়ে চিন্তিত থাকে।
কবুতর পালন করতে বেশি জায়গাও লাগে না আবার অল্প সময়ে বাচ্চা পাওয়া যায়, বাচ্চার দামও বেশি পাওয়া যায় । মোট কথা লাভজনক এই পাখি পালনের জন্য বাড়তি জ্ঞান ও শিক্ষার প্রয়োজনও পড়ে না, শুধুমাত্র সামান্য নজরদারি আর সতর্ক হলেই কবুতর পালন  করে বেকারত্ব দূর করা যায়। সেই সঙ্গে সংসারে বাড়তি কিছু টাকাও যোগ করা সম্ভব। এ ছাড়াও চিত্তবিনোদনের একটি আকর্ষণীয় উপায় হলো কবুতর পালন । কবুতর প্রতি মাসে দুটি করে বাচ্চা দেয়। বাচ্চার বয়স ২১ দিন হলেই বিক্রির উপযোগী হয়। সবচেয়ে মজার ব্যাপার হলো, অন্যান্য পাখির মতো কবুতর খাদ্যের অপচয় বেশি করে না। বরং বলা যায় অপচয়রোধী পাখি কবুতর।
